New Freight Line Opens in Adirondacks (Picture Gallery)
North Creek — A new freight train service in the Adirondacks was launched Wednesday.
The Saratoga and North Creek Railway today officially re-opened the Tahawus Fright Line. The railroad will primarily carry rocks from current and former mining operations for use in road building and other projects.
Iowa Pacific, which owns the Saratoga and North Creek Railroad, had to receive state and federal permission to refurbish old tracks for the freight service.
