Glens Falls — Plans for a methadone treatment center in Glens Falls have been withdrawn.

Mayor Jack Diamond tells Look News that Conifer Park Outpatient Services notified the city last week that they would not move forward with plans for the clinic at their Elm Street offices. Methadone is used to treat heroin addiction.

Last October the city put a moratorium in place to block such facilities from opening until regulations could be put in place.

The city council will next week meet to discuss the moratorium which runs out in October.

Currently the closest methadone treatment centers are in Albany and Amsterdam.

Look News has reached out to Conifer Park for comment, they are yet to return out call.  We’ll have more on-air tonight at 5:30, 6 and 10pm.
