Invasive Species Bill Vote Set for Thursday
Albany — A bill which would strengthen state laws when it comes to the spread of invasive species will be put to a vote in the State Senate.
State Senator Betty Little’s office tells us that the bill which would ban the sale or transportation of certain invasive species and impose a fine of up to $250 is scheduled for a vote Thursday.
The law has the backing of the Lake George Association who is battling the invasive species known as the Asian Clam.
The bill then goes to the Assembly for a vote, if it becomes law, the DEC and Department of Agriculture and Markets will host public hearings and develop a list of banned species.
